REPORT

THE STATE OF SILHOUETTE IN ONTARIO

We have held a number of matches to date (July 29, 2009) in Ontario starting with Ontario Indoor Championships - April 5, Twin City Rifle Club - May 10, Sportsmens Club - Galt - June 7, Twin City Rifle Club - July 26. We have a small but enthusiastic group our main problem seems to be a reluctance for people to travel any great distance to attend a match. We have started to hold matches on a select number of Thursday evenings these have received as much or more attendance as matches held on weekends.

The year to date has also been very busy for another reason. Ontario ranges have been going through inspections by the Chief Firearms Office. As a result we have been going through an extensive rebuilding program. This has included raising the backstops to a minimum 6 meters and building bunker for our Silhoette Targets. This has taken a great deal of time and effort of everyone involved. You can see the results by the included pictures.

There are no High Power Silhouette ranges in Southern Ontario and there is all but no chance of ever building one due to restrictions of noise (50 dB At property line) and a 500 meter range would have to be baffled. Luckily the USA is close and a group of from 6 to 12 of use travel to Ridgway PA. once or twice a month from April to September to shoot there.
